Lille - dining at Torget ***3***

Today I ate at Lille, which is just across Kongens gate from Trondheim Torg, at the corner near the statue of Olav Tryggvason. We were just under ten people, students all of us.

Both the interior and exterior of the restaurant are quite OK. Reminescent of quaint and cozy. The staff is not. They are more on the slow side, even though the restaurant was not even half full.

The menu looks OK, with only one or two misspellings. A choice of about 3 starters, 7 main courses, 15 pizzas, 5 children's dishes, 5 desserts and quite a few wines.

The say the quality of the kitchen is best judged through the steak, so that's what I ordered. The first question the waiter should respond with is how I would like it prepared. Our waiter just left. Without even taking the menus. Members of our party had to practically shout for
attention again to get it rare.

When the food arrived, I got the feeling it was arranged rather haphazardly without any sense of style or aesthetics. There was also a randomness in the size of each serving of the same dish. Interesting choice, I thought.

Dessert serving was a bit on the small side with equal amounts of pudding and whipped cream.
The waiter didn't know if the berry sauce was made with fresh, frozen or some other form of berries. But she did know that the whipped cream was made in a big box that shook, so it was made from real cream. Comforting.

The price of a steak, dessert and a beer came in at around 350 kr. I felt that I paid too much, even though someone else picked up the bill.

I will try to bring you a mixture of objective and subjective thoughts and opinions regarding places to eat and drink in Trondheim.
This is my first attempt at doing something like this, but hey; I'm good at being a critic and I like good food, so here we go:
